In WORD how do I set a page width size larger than 55.87cm ?

Using Word 2000, on certain docs, when I go to Print Preview, the text
disappears and when I print the doc the text does not show on the printed
page.

Whenever I open Word 2003, the new doc always opens up in outline formatting.
Have tried going thru the formatting menu to reset to "normal" but whenever
I restart Word later, same thing happens again.  Anyone know how to turn this
make the default "normal"?

I have a document that has over 900 pages.  It starts with blank page, ii,

Could the program please push itself into the background and stop
interrupting with formatting tips and pop-ups. Just let me type my bl**dy
letters. When I want help, I'll ask for it. I find it really frustrating
having things pop up as I type.

I want to have the document set up so that when I type a name or word in
place in side the document/letter, that name will be instantaneously entered
or equaled somewhere else in the document in place that I specify.  Sort like
