When we go to File > Page Setup and set the default margin to 1", click the
"Default" button, click "Yes", click "OK", close and reopen Word, it reverts
back to the 1.25" margin settings.
How can we force the margin settings to stay at the new default we set?

I am beginning a course where documents MUST be presented to a certain
format, and I'm worried that I'll miss something - so I am trying to set up a
template for all my work following these guidelines:
Document should be double spaced with margins of 3cm on both left and right

I expect the restriction would need to be password-controlled.
