My thesis requirements state that long footnotes must still be on the same page. Some of mine are, some are wrapping to the next one. How do I stop Word from"helping" me by wrapping them to the next page at its will...

Is it possible to display paragraph and space markings in grey, rather than in black text on Word 2003 for the PC? This is a feature of Office for the Mac which I fondly remember.

Corner markers have appeared on all my templates. They are shwoing where the margins are. I can't turn them off and they also appear when I print the document.

When I try to open a .wpd (WordPerfect from PC) file from the "File Open" menu in Microsoft Word 2004 I just get a bunch of code. I tried all the selections available. There is no selection for WordPerfect. What do I do?

I have a word document with pages which are portrait and landscape. This seems to cause the document to go into different sections. When I try to omit the footer from the front page it is also omitted from the first page in other sections. Some of the sections seem to say ...

have checked normal dot template, background, watermark...none seem to delete this graph appearance...it only shows up in view - print layout and does not show in print preview..I can type over it, but very annoying ... all my old documents now have this graph...but..it does ...

I keep getting an error, "The settings you chose for left and right margins.... are too large... whenever I try to change page orientation. It happens on almost every document I try to change and it doesn't matter how many columns, sections, etc. I have.

I cut and pasted a pdf page from a website. The page setup is in column form on the website. I would like to continue typing in my document right after the section that was cut and pasted, but I cannot get column formatting to disengage. My text keeps wrapping in column form.

I hope this is not too basic a question, but I'm stumped (never did get the hang of headers/footers!). Using Office 2003, I need to put the page number in the footer of all pages except the first page. That worked fine, as there is a "different first page" option on page layout ...

I have created a letterhead with graphics, but when I send it viewers don't see the graphics because it opens in "reading layout view". Have i set it to do that? Or can I set it to NOT do that?

In Bookfold mode, MSWord defaults to Landscape for the paper orientation. I often need to create booklets using the paper in Portrait orientation. It would be really helpful to have the choice. ----------------

This seems to be something that started in the last few weeks. If I start a new document, in page layout view there is NO margin at the top of the page. In print preview, it is there and documents print fine

I have set up footers in my word doc to read 2 of 5, 3 of 5 etc (page one has not got footers, as it is a front page), which is fine when it is displayed on screen...but when it comes to being printed, it reads: 2 of 2, 3 of 3 etc! It's driving me crazy! Please help!
