I want to insert page numbers, such that on page 1, the number is in the

Is it possible to create a landscape table on a portrait page, i.e. a page
with a normal portrait header and footer? I am aware that one can change the
text direction of each cell in the table to simulate a landscape table, but I
would like to know if there is not an easier way.

I'm using Microsoft Office Word 2003.
I have a document that was formatted for some ancient page-layout program
that won't even run under Windows XP, so I'd like to put it all into Word.  
It's currently in a tag-style format; for example, to italicize some section,

I have a 360 page book that uses the book fold option.  In order to get it to
print properly I use .doc format from word 2007.  When I print (either on my
HP or on a large Panasonic), odd pages get a faint bar about 1.5" wide by
1/16" high starting at the left edge, not the left ...
