I am running Word 2000, WinXP SP2. I have one font which I use very often, and when I toggle show/hide spaces, the spaces show up not as dots but as square boxes -- the kind that usually indicates a missing character from the font.

Problem with page numbers. The page displays as {page} and not actual number. If I press Alt+F9 this gives you the page number and not {page} but when you print it still show {page}. Any suggestions?

When looking through a list of available fonts in the Format - Font menu in Word, is there a way to determine if a font is proportional or monospaced? Are there other ways of determining if a font is proportional or monospaced, other than programmically?

I want to have my printer default to draft and B+W output every time. I go in and tick the 'draft output' box in OPTIONS, but everytime I reopen WORD it defaults to no box ticked. Is there any way to get draft and B+W as a permanent default ?
