We have a vertical industry application that integrates Word as it's word processor. It is dependent on a standard MS Word install location for it to work. Since you can have several \program files\micros~1..2,3 etc.

Word and Excel are very slow to open on workstations (2000Pro and XP)attached to network (2000Server). Office is installed on workstations. Work and Excel open normally after removing workstation from network.
