I sometimes come across this annoying problem. I have two tables I've created one after the other and I would like them to become one big table without having to copy and paste the information from the lower table into new rows in the upper table.

With my previous version of Word, I was able to click on the table icon, and drag, right near the icon to the size (# of rows & columns) I wanted. (Note: I am not referring to the "draw table" command) With Word 2003, clicking on the icon opens up the "insert table" dialogue
