I rarely use tables wherby I have to hide the gridlines, albeit the last doc I did came out without the gridlines although i didn't need to hide them. I now find that show and hide gridlines are not working. I want a column to use shading.I have been working on this all morning . ...

I have a document containing tables created in Word 2003. The first row has a dark gray background the successive rows have alternating light gray and white backgrounds. In Word 2003 I could cut and paste the table and it would retain its formatting.

I am using Office 2003. When I deselect 'allow rows to break across pages' my tables still break. I have to select the rows again and then select 'keep with next' under paragraph settings. Why isn't the tables properties working? Thanks,

I recently worked on a document that I needed to have outline numbered captions above the tables. Now, whenever I insert a table into a document, I get a numbered caption. I cannot figure out where this "lives" so I can turn it off. This is in W97.
